Noire Mora Aguilar

Noire Mora Aguilar is the mother of the Mora family, who I have had the privilege of staying with for the past week. Getting to know her has been a joy for me, and I am excited for you to all meet her as well :)

About 8 years ago, the Mora’s decided to convert their farm and go completely organic. They also built another house for volunteers like me to stay in, where they can learn about organic farming and living. While it has been a struggle at times, Noire is so happy here on this farm. Surrounded by beautiful, pristine cloud forests, she couldn’t be happier. She says she never gets tired walking through the forest. On our walks through the forest she has taught me so many things, and she even helps me look for snakes, even though she is afraid of them :) She says she loves all the animals of the forest, even if she is afraid of them. She knows that they all need to coexist for the forests to function properly. She gave each of the kids in the family their own forest, so they will understand how to preserve the land on their own.

Not only does she work on the farm every day, but she also teaches classes for other farmers about how to work organically, and she is one of the leaders of the local school her kids attend (which is 45 minutes away). To top it all off, she is the best cook in the world (besides my mom, of course!), but she would tell you it’s just because of the organic food she uses.

She is so strong, so humble, and so loving. She is one of my heroes, and I am so thankful for this opportunity to get to know her.
